Nanny Networking meet up

It takes a village- we are that village.
Finally setting a date for the nanny networking meet up.

Lets meet at 10:30am Saturday March 26th at Firefly Coffee House 131 front st.

Topics to be discussed are to be decided by group dynamic. Possible topics include by are not limited to simple child psychology, discipline styles, difficult phases,  ideas and tools for setting up new jobs, fair wages, vacation pay, sick pay, cancellation fees,  etc.

Also to be discussed will be kiddo craft ideas.

We don't all speak with english accents.....

Nannies are portrayed as speaking with an English accent, carrying magic umbrellas and, having angelic singing voices. Yeah not quite. Sometimes I'd love that magic umbrella when there is paint spilled on the rug and cheerios all over the floor and I find a toddler telling me how enjoyable it is to squash them between their toes. All those who took the Mommy and me (nanny and me) music classes with me know my voice is less  that angelic ( quite a bit).

Some of us nannies are just average women ( or men- mannies are becoming increasing popular) who want to dedicate our lives to loving, rearing and caring for children. More that just a babysitter who comes and watches over the kids and leaves, feeding them pizza or mac "whatever is easiest". The kids I watch eat veggies, use their magic words and above all must be kind. I am a 3rd parent of sorts, a substitute for mama and papa. I caress boo- boos, clip nails, play make believe marriage, snuggle up for story and sleep times, and attend birthdays and milestones.

So whats with nanny 911 and super nanny? Why is it they all have English accents? As though that is the prerequisite to be a nanny. I smile knowing that it takes way more than that.
